What can I say about Hitchcock? He is the absolute master of suspense of course, with films such as Psycho, The Birds, and Rear Window under his name. Vertigo is no exception, from it's masterfully crafted script to it's beautiful and elegant cinematography.

This psychological thriller follows the story of former police detective Scottie Ferguson, who has a condition of acrophobia and vertigo, as he investigates and follows a former colleague's wife who is acting strangely. The direction is fantastic, alongside the performances. The screenplay is brilliant and really well-written, accompanied with the fluid dialogue, great chemistry, and smooth pacing. The film's engaging tone and twists and turns will keep you engaged from the beginning to the end.

Did I mention the cinematography was gorgeous? Well it is. The color palette in every frame is incredible, and every scene is just breathtaking. The special effects granted are dated, but are incredible for 1950's standards.

The film definitely still holds up to this day, and quite frankly is personally one of the greatest films of all time especially the time period it was released in. Vertigo remains my favorite Hitchcock film, and it's no surprise why. A phenomenal film by a phenomenal filmmaker.
