Directed by Satoshi Kon

I was recently introduced to the filmography of Satoshi Kon, and what better film to showcase his brilliance and craft, than his magnum opus, Perfect Blue. This psychological thriller focuses on the frightening reality of celebrity fandom. The film’s tension is ever so present, as the compelling mystery unfolds. The film’s blurring of the lines between reality and sur reality, keeps you pondering about what is real or not, and works hand in hand with the fantastic visuals, which is prevalent in his other works, such as Paprika. A fantastic stepping stone to those who are interested in Satoshi Kon’s works.

My rating: 9/10
