I wouldn't say that I am a big Star Wars fan. I liked the original trilogy, I kinda liked the new trilogy, and I only liked Revenge of the Sith from the prequels. The Clone Wars TV series on the other hand, is a very well-made TV show that I thoroughly enjoyed. Before the TV series was released, this film would serve as a pilot. All I can say was this film was pretty forgettable, and I would just watch the TV series instead if I were you. The plot is a weird one, Jabba the Hutt enlists Anakin and Ahsoka Tano to rescue his baby? The overall writing itself is poor, but it was meant for kids, so probably that's why. The characters don't feel fleshed out, and showed little emotion. The character of Ahsoka Tano is annoying and quite detestable, but she does grow to become a better beloved character in the TV series, I can tell you that, but in this film she's just as worse as Jar Jar. The action itself is okay, but it really drags on in certain times. Talk about dragging, this film in general is slow at times, and that can result into quick boredom. Something good to say about it? The voice acting is pretty good, Samuel L. Jackson, and the late Christopher Lee return to voice their respected characters. The animation is good for the most part, but does feel quite dated at times.
In conclusion, this film just isn't for me. The writing, the animation, everything just doesn't click for me, but the TV series it sets up, is just great, despite this disappointing, and forgettable pilot. You want to watch the Star Wars universe in breathtaking animation? Just watch the TV series instead.
My rating: 4.5/10
