Directed by Vince Gilligan

Starring: Aaron Paul

The plot follows what happens to Pinkman (Paul) following the events of the show's series finale.

I have been a big fan of Breaking Bad ever since it released back in 2008. It's writing, it's dialogue, all of it is just excellent. When Better Call Saul released in 2015, there were rumors to a Breaking Bad sequel film. I didn't think much of it, but over the years the rumors were gaining attention, and in a short time, El Camino was announced. That day has come, and upon finally seeing it over the weekend, I can say it was pretty good. Not what I expected, but still good regardless.

The plot was good for the most part, as it focuses primarily on Jessie Pinkman after the events of Breaking Bad. The film had many easter eggs to the series, and some great writing from Gilligan. Aaron Paul was fantastic, and returned to his role as Jessie Pinkman, with a bang. The rest of the cast were great too. (RIP Robert Forster). I wouldn't say it's plot is the strong-point of the film, since it's nothing extraordinary, but closure to Jessie's story.

Technically, the film was excellent. The cinematography and editing was great, and the music really added to the tension of certain scenes. However, the pacing is slow at times, so that can be something negative to some people. One thing I have to say is that those two hours passed by really quick, which left me wanting more.

In conclusion, it was a pretty good film, I admired Gilligan's writing and directing, as well as Aaron Paul's powerful performance. Saying that, don't expect it to be that thrilling like a Breaking Bad episode, it focuses on finishing Jessie's story after Breaking Bad, so it might feel quite anticlimactic, not what you expected, and even meaningless , but it gets the job done, at least for me personally. There were problems, but not enough to taint the enjoyable experience of this film. Not a film we needed or expected, but definitely one that can finally provide a satisfying closure to the character of Jessie Pinkman after the finale of Breaking Bad.

My rating: 8.0/10
