Review: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

The plot follows ex-hitman John Wick, as finds himself on the run from legions of assassins after a $14 million contract is put on his head.

John Wick is back, and better than ever. I absolutely loved John Wick 1 and 2, and ever since hearing of a third installment being made, I was no doubt hyped. After finishing the film, I can definitely say that it was a worthy entry in the franchise, that was both action-packed and really entertaining.

The plot as expected, wasn't the best. There were points in the film, where the film does slow-down to focus on the plot and help build the characters, but those moments felt really dull and pointless. The characters were interesting, but we never get enough time to understand them and their motivations. Keanu Reeves was great as usual in his role, while Halle Berry was wasted and useless (apart from some amazing dog combat sequences). How can I forget the same stunt actors from the Raid films, Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) and Cecep Arif Rahman (The Assassin) , who were fantastic and easily one of the best moments of the film (You'll know what I mean, if you watched the film).

The cinematography was great and matched the one from the original film, but with even better lighting and framing, and some great long takes. The choreography and stunt-work is phenomenal and well-executed, and is the best element of the film by far (as expected), with a variety of martial arts, and gun fight sequences that are extremely satisfying and fun to watch. Music was good, but nothing special and not better than the original's soundtrack.

In conclusion, a great entry to the franchise. While the story might not be the best, the film does make up for it's brilliant choreography and action sequences, which will leave you coming back for more. For a franchise that seems to get better with every entry, I cannot wait to see John Wick 4, as it highers it's status as one of the best action franchises ever made.
