Directed by Edgar Wright
Starring: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost
the plot follows police officers attempting to solve a series of mysterious deaths in their village.
Here comes another Edgar Wright film in the recommended list (alongside The World's End and Baby Driver). This is Wright's 2nd film in the Cornetto trilogy, and my personal favorite. The plot involves Simon Pegg working as an Sergeant in the village of Sanford, as he tries to solve a series of mysterious murder. This film was just plain awesome. It was funny, it was entertaining, and it was just good.
The acting was done superbly by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who's characters are completly opposite of one another. Simon Pegg plays Sgt Nicolas Angel, who is a serious over-achieving officer, and Nick Frost plays Police Constable Daniel Butterman, who is on the other hand lazy and under-achieving, much like the police force in the village of Sandford. There were many cameos in the film including Peter Jackson, Martin Freeman, Stephen Merchant, which felt really refreshing to see, as well as put a smile on my face.
The plot was entertaining and engaging, the action scenes were also really done well. The movie really changes in tone, which is interesting, it starts out depressing, becomes funny, then turns into a horror film and in certain parts of the film it actually felt kind of scary with the horror atmosphere it portrayed. The humor is really up there, and it is an all around funny buddy cop action film, that I really recommend if you have time on your hands.
Should you watch it? Yarp, you definitely should (You won't get it unless you watched the film).
My rating: 9.0/10
