Woah, third review this week! Yes, you do not adjust your eyes, this is my 3rd review this week. Starting next week, the system will return to the same recommendation and review per week. I simply just did 3 reviews, because I love you guys (and I'm also catching up from my long summer break).
I just saw the film, and I have to say it was alright. Having seen the first film when it was released, I really wasn't eager to see this film, but I cannot say no to the talented actor that is two time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington.
Let's start with the good things. Denzel Washington was great, his performance carried this film in my opinion, and the other actors were sub-par, which was disappointing to say for Pedro Pascal, who is also a talented actor. Some of the suspense is good, and keeps you to your seat. The action was good, and overall the film was really entertaining and does crack a few jokes here and there.
Now, the bad things. As I mentioned before, the others actors were sub-par and boring. The pacing was really off, and the buildup was long and slow, which can easily lose your attention. The plot contained many holes, and was silly. There were too many subplots, and the story was highly predictable.
In conclusion, it was an alright sequel, nothing special. It was pretty entertaining and Denzel was great, but not even he can save this film. A third movie, looks to be in the works, but I wonder if they can pull it off third time lucky.
My rating: 6.0/10
