First of all, I would like to say I am finally back from a long month of travel (as some of you may know). I would also like to introduce the new way, I am presenting the reviews on my Instagram. Instagram will now feature a summary of the review including my rating in which you can swipe to read, the full review will remain in my blog for you to further read. Glad to be back, and finally glad to watch this movie. It's been a month, I know I am late, but let us dive into Mission Impossible: Fallout.
Well first of all, I was highly anticipating this movie's release, and upon reading the critic's reviews of the film, I was excited to see it. I finally had the chance to see it last Friday on my last day in London, and I have to say it didn't really live up to the hype and praise it received.
I am not often a fan of action films, but Tom Cruise is one hell of an actor, so don't get me wrong, when I say that this film was really entertaining, but the plot was just predictable. Well, I know what i got myself into, a film that was hellbent on action sequences and it's stunts in the foreground that it's predictable plot is in the background. I know what I got myself into, but I just have to say I felt a bit disappointed in regards to the plot, especially since the movie is the longest one in the franchise.
SPOILERS INBOUND , (if you haven't seen the movie, just skip the underlined paragraph)
Back to predictable plot, the most predictable part, is Henry Cavill's character Agent Walker's plot twist. The twist felt weak, based on the fact that the character wasn't as fleshed out in the movie, and also adding to the fact that it was his first appearance in the franchise, (and his last), it's a plot twist we can easily forget. If you don't mind the constant plot repetition of the hero always winning, you won't mind the film.
Now to the good things. I loved the actors, they were all good, especially Tom Cruise and his impressive stunt work once again. One of the many reasons I love Tom Cruise as an actor, is that he does his own stunts, similar to Keanu Reeves and his action films. The film had some funny moments with Simon Pegg cracking jokes. The action sequences were incredible once again, showcasing Cruise's stunt work and overall entertaining presentation.
In conclusion, the film was good, just disappointed plot-wise, but what can you expect from an action blockbuster in which the repetition of the same story in which hero/heroes have to save the world from evil. I do recommend seeing it though, since most people will be forgetting about the plot and be looking into the impressive and memorable action sequences and catchy music.
My rating: 8/10
