Directed by James Franco
Starring: James Franco, Dave Franco
The plot follows the biographical book by Greg Sestero, which showcases how the 2003 cult movie The Room was made.
After finally watching this film, I can confirm it was worth the wait. The movie is based on the book of the same name, written by Greg Sestero about the making of the 2003 cult film The Room. If you have never heard of the film, you are completely living in the wrong planet. This movie has a cult following and is widely considered one of the worst movies ever made. While it flopped review wise, it was a fun movie and it’s considered to be that “It’s too bad it’s good” kind of movies.
Not much is known about Tommy Wiseau, how he was able to fund 6 million to make the movie, where he’s from, and what his age is. With such a mysterious character in the world of movies, he built his own legacy with this idea of a film.
James Franco and his brother Dave Franco have done a really good job portraying Tommy and Greg, displaying their relationship before the idea of the movie to after the movie was released. James Franco did especially well with even Tommy Wiseau himself giving him praise for his role.
The movie did not just do well describing the production of the movie itself, but also mirrored the shots within the movie to the actual scenes from The Room.
There are many cameos from Hollywood stars within the film, most noticeably Bryan Cranston, and the cast make this film a much more enjoyable film as well as address the emotions of the two leads throughout the production of the film.
The film serves as another memento to Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero’s career, and continues to build a legacy that they nor we will ever forget.
My rating: 8.0/10
