Directed by Jordan Peele Starring: Daniel Kaluuya

The story follows Chris, a black man who uncovers a disturbing secret when he meets the family of his white girlfriend.

When I first saw the trailer, I was intrigued, I felt like this movie was going to be a parody. I was so wrong.

I’ve seen the film now for a total of 3 times, and each time I watch it, each time I discover something new. This is Jordan Peele’s first movie, and it comes out with a bang. The movie displays many tones, it is a horror, with ambiences of comedy and thriller. The movie feels creepy and twisted but the plot is strong and keeps you on your toes. There are many subliminal messages and symbolism throughout the film, most of which are hinted towards the issue of racism.

Daniel Kaluuya did an impressive job among the other actors, as they try to obtain their goal and find out what is happening. The music is wicked, creepy and fits the scenery and the suspense of the movie, as well as the dark cinematography separating the light from the darkness, the white from the black, as added symbolism. This movie makes you think about what's going to happen next, and is the literal definition of a psychological thriller with a strong message.

With 4 Oscar nominations and one win for Best Original Screenplay, Get Out, is one of the most successful films of 2017, and is definitely one not to miss.

In conclusion, Jordan Peele has went up and beyond with his first film, and I for one, is excited for his many projects to come.

My rating: 9/10
